Building on the ten-year success of a franchised inspection firm, Roy Chan (P.Eng., CET, RHI) founded Consumers Choice Property Consultants in Southern Ontario and the Toronto area.

Roy has performed thousands of inspections, including pre-purchase home inspections and commercial, industrial and institutional inspections throughout the province of Ontario. Roy has inspected:

• homes
• motels and hotels
• strip malls and shopping malls
• high-rise and low-rise apartment buildings
• town-house complexes
• industrial buildings
• car dealerships
• industrial condo complexes
• high-rise office buildings
• ice hockey stadiums
• centuries-old churches

Roy is a registered professional engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), a Certified Engineering Technologist with Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and also a Registered Home Inspector with Ontario Association of Home Inspectors (OAHI).

Life-long learning is Roy's passion. He has finished most of the Ontario Building Code courses. In the summer of 2002, he went back to York University to seek knowledge in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and obtained a Certificate as a result. He is a certified mediator.

During the fall of 2004, Roy pursued his passion of continuing education in Infrared Thermography, and became a certified Level 1 Infrared thermographer. He has now updated to Level 2, and with this certification, he can provide infrared scanning on any building-related, diagnostic and preventive maintenance problems.

In his spare time, Roy continues to update himself by teaching part-time at a local college, and coaching about the inspection business to newcomers.

Currently, he is serving on a number of boards to contribute what he has learned from the industry.
